Welcome to Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Occupational Therapy!

In our department, which is the first Occupational Therapy Department established in Turkey, health professionals with the occupational title of Occupational Therapist are trained. Ergotherapists; By using meaningful and purposeful activities and different occupational therapy intervention techniques, it aims to ensure the independence of individuals of all age groups in daily life, fulfilling their vital roles, and balanced participation in society. In their practices, occupational therapists; They carry out assessment and intervention activities in three basic areas: person, environment and operation.

Occupational therapists, who prioritize improving the social participation and quality of life of clients without any health problems and disadvantaged individuals, in the public and private sectors; in hospitals, special education and rehabilitation centers, healthy living centers, alcohol and substance treatment centers, community mental health centers, love homes, day care centers, home care services, palliative care, nursing homes, factories, schools, prisons, industrial work areas, They take part in preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative health services.

Our department, which always aims for the highest level of quality in line with our university's principle of "More Forward, Towards the Best", has been approved by the Health Sciences Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (SABAK) at the national level and by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT), the highest level organization of the Occupational Therapy profession, at the international level. It is the only accredited occupational therapy department. In addition, our department represents our country at the international level as a member of the European Occupational Therapy Higher Education Network (ENOTHE).

Our department, with its rich faculty staff, continues theoretical and practical education activities at both undergraduate and graduate (master's and doctoral) levels, carries out projects supported by national and international institutions and organizations for research and development, and provides social contribution through professional practice units and laboratories.

We are rightfully proud and happy that the first Vocational Rehabilitation Center in Turkey was established at our university within our department. And also; Education, research and treatment services activities carried out within our department in the fields of pediatric rehabilitation, oncological rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation and psychiatric rehabilitation, including sensory integration and low vision areas, are carried out together. With the achievements in all these fields, our students graduate as pioneers in health services and operate in leading positions in their fields.
