Patients are followed up in the wards where adult and pediatric patients diagnosed with cancer for various reasons are treated. Since cancer is a chronic, progressive disease, the symptoms that people encounter during the disease closely affect the person's life, habits and roles. Occupational therapy practices include person-centered approaches, taking into account the daily life of the person and the environmental factors that affect it.
The patients followed in our unit are evaluated by considering their age, gender, interests, needs and skills, and treatment protocols are applied for the symptoms of cancer disease. Such patients are supported to cope with common symptoms such as fatigue, pain, weakness, reluctance and stress, and to continue their routine lives by ensuring their active participation in daily life activities.
We have various tests and materials to be applied before the intervention in adult and pediatric patient groups, and after these are applied, the person is intervened according to his/her wishes and needs.
Cognitive rehabilitation, training in activities of daily living, academic skills training, sensory training, joint and energy conservation techniques, training in methods of coping with pain - fatigue and stress can be listed among the application examples of occupational therapy.
